Ronald Chambers
Artist 1931-2001

Ronald Chambers the late exotic figurative artist was born in Sydney on the 7th August, 1931. Of French decent, his twofold heritage is reflected in his love of figurative art. He began to paint when very young and entered a painting competition at the age of ten; he subsequently received a personal letter of encouragement from American cartoon genius Walt Disney. Ronald Chambers paintings have been acquired by many private collectors as well as by large corporations and can also be found in galleries in France, Italy, Spain, England, America, Japan, Hong Kong, Tahiti and throughout Australia. His extensive travels over seven decades throughout Europe and the Islands of the South Pacific are reflected in his work with tremendous attention to detail. He derived his inspiration from the exotic flowers, colorful rare birds, endangered species, the jungle wildlife and the tropics from these regions. His composites of cheetahs, jaguars, baboons, lemurs, elephants, clouded leopards, macaw parrots and egrets, are harmonious in idyllic tropical scenes. Groups of animals, birds, flowers and large green leaves are positioned across the picture plane. While he generally painted tigers, leopards, zebras or monkeys, there are few exotic animals he never attempted. Favourite subjects were the animals and birds of Asia, India & Africa in their native environments. The result being fascinating landscapes filled with species of all varieties. Ronald Chambers had some thirty solo shows and participated in more than forty group exhibitions. His first showing in 1970 was with a gathering of artists in Capri, Italy and St. Tropez, France. Ronald Chambers successfully submitted countless works in group exhibitions as well as executing many commissions for private collections.
