WALLABY

The
Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby from western New South Wales, is a handsome animal, with a striking
yellow and brown-ringed tail; a long, soft, silky coat; and an attractive white muzzle stripe. It wasn’t long after
European settlement before hunters discovered the value of Yellow-footed Rock Wallabies’ skins and shipments
of these pelts were heading for England. However, it has been competition with feral goats, predation by foxes
and habitat destruction, that has caused the real threats to the future survival of this species. Other highly
endangered marsupials include the Bridled Nailtail Wallaby from Central Queensland, the Black-footed
Rock-Wallaby and Tammar Wallaby from Western Australia and the Rufous Hare-Wallaby from the Northern
Territory. There is a serious decline among our desert mammal populations, for this species once inhabited more
than 25 per cent of the continent.
The 'Australiana Collection' wildlife design portrays the beauty of the
handsome & powerful Wallaby that lives in Australia.
